Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program

Ten Broeck Hospital offers a highly structured Partial
Hospitalization Program for children (ages 3-12), adolescents (ages
13-18) and adults (age 18 and over) who are experiencing a severe
or disabling condition related to an acute psychiatric illness
and/or emotional disorder. This program is designed to address the
individual needs of these patients through specialized physical,
social, spiritual, medical and psychotherapeutic treatment
interventions.
The Partial Hospitalization
Program
- Psychiatric evaluation by a psychiatrist within 24 hours of
admission.
- A safe milieu with skilled nursing care.
- Thorough assessment and monitoring by a registered psychiatric
nurse and development of an Initial Treatment Plan.
- Evaluation and crisis stabilization by a multi-disciplinary
team (including a nurse, social worker, activity/ expressive/or
occupational therapist, and a psychologist) directed by a
psychiatrist.
- Pharmacological interventions as indicated.
- Development of a Master Treatment Plan by a multi-disciplinary
team which is problem oriented; goal directed, contains measurable
objectives, and address criteria for discharge.
- Development of a comprehensive Discharge Plan.
- Psycho-educational and psychotherapy groups.
- Therapeutic groups that address the areas of assertiveness,
feelings, problem solving, grief resolution, life planning, stress,
self-image, social skills, spirituality, occupational and
recreational therapy.
- Family participation in treatment including family therapy and
individual therapy as indicated.
The Partial Hospitalization Program is offered Monday through
Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for adults; 8:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m. for children; and 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for adolescents.
Transportation will be provided by Ten Broeck Hospital per
request.
Following completion of the Partial Hospitalization Program, an
appropriate referral will be made for the patient to continue
treatment in the least restrictive level of care possible (i.e.,
intensive outpatient, outpatient, support group etc.) The level of
care recommended is determined by the individual needs of the
patient.
